Highland Wedding Photography | Stephanie and Daniel

“We booked Karen for our wedding on 9th August 2019. We had an amazing service start to finish, with plenty of communication from the time of booking last year to the actual wedding day. A lovely, bubbly lady who makes you feel at ease. Our photographs are out of this world. We got married in the Scottish Highlands and didn’t know the area well. Karen took beautiful pictures at the wedding venue and then as an added personal touch, even took us to a few locations she recommended for additional shots. Would highly recommend Karen for a professional, trustworthy and friendly service.”

It was such a privilege to be included in Stephanie and Daniel’s wee wedding at the stunning Caledonian Cabin at Invergarry in the Scottish Highlands! It was just the couple, their gorgeous dog, their parents, myself and the humanist, Laura Gillespie. It very much put me in mind of my own wedding a couple of years ago! Stephanie and Daniel chose a bespoke package for their coverage, so I was only with them for a few hours, but we managed to squeeze a lot of photography into that time!

I arrived just as Stephanie was entering the final stages of hair and make-up. The two mums helped Steph into her beautiful dress then the father of the bride came upstairs to catch his first glimpse of his daughter. I love the emotion in these pictures!

Stephanie and Daniel were incredibly lucky with the weather. I’d driven down from the Black Isle in torrential rain, armed with umbrellas, cagoules and welly boots but, remarkably, the conditions dried up minutes before the outdoor ceremony got underway. I loved the arch covered in flowers which the bride and groom had brought all the way from Edinburgh; a really beautiful feature. Laura conducted a lovely ceremony, telling Stephanie and Daniel’s story. See if you can spot the ring bearer in the photos… very cute!

After some champagne and nibbles, Stephanie and Daniel hopped in the back of my Yeti and we headed up to the popular Garry viewpoint. The viewpoint itself has become very overgrown with trees so I pulled off the road a little further west for the spectacular view over Loch Garry with the added bonus of some privacy, so Steph and Dan didn’t feel like they had an audience! Stephanie donned a pair of welly boots and we were free to move into the best location for photographs. Have a close look at the loch in the background; its shape is very reminiscent of the outline of mainland Scotland!

I drove Steph and Dan to another location further along the road before returning to the cabin. I captured some family photos then Steph and Dan showed me a couple of great locations a stone’s throw from the Caledonian Cabin; a quirky boat shed on the shore of Loch Garry and an old stone bridge. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist capturing a few more images! The one at the boat shed is a personal favourite, with Festie the dog looking on!

Back indoors, Stephanie and Daniel cut their wedding cake before I headed off, leaving them and their parents to enjoy a wonderful meal cooked by a private chef and an evening of entertainment provided by a local musician. As I said, it was a real privilege to be included in such an intimate gathering! Thanks again Stephanie and Daniel and congratulation to you both!
