I always love visiting the Isle of Skye and so was thrilled when Chris and Katie asked me to photograph their wedding!
Katie and her bridesmaids and flower girl spent the morning getting ready at the Coastguard Cottages in the idyllic surroundings of Duntulm, at the northern end of Trotternish. After photographing Katie’s dress, shoes, flowers and hair and make-up session, I headed south to Uig in time for the guests arriving at the Free Church. The atmosphere was a little tense to begin with as the key to the church only turned up ten minutes before the ceremony was due to begin! Thankfully everyone got settled in the pews before the bride arrived!
It was a lovely ceremony. I always shoot from the front and love capturing those special looks between the bride and groom. After the service, I did the group shots outside the church before heading back to Duntulm with Chris and Katie for their photographs. Katie changed into a flat pair of shoes and we walked over open pasture to a grassy promontory below the ruins of Duntulm Castle. With the tourist season well underway on the Isle of Skye, Chris and Katie certainly turned a few heads! Even the sheep looked surprised to see them!
We were very fortunate with the weather as the rain came on within minutes of setting off for the Skye Gathering Hall at Portree for the wedding reception. The atmosphere was brilliant; the hall was buzzing with laughter and chatter, and Chris and Katie were piped to their seats, with some unexpected confetti canons en route! The couple cut their cake then the speeches got underway ahead of the meal and ceilidh dancing later in the evening.
Here are a few memories from Chris and Katie’s special day. Congratulations to you both!
