How do we enquire or book?

Please use the contact form or email or call me to discuss your portrait photography. To book me as your photographer, I will simply need you to complete an online booking form and make an upfront payment.

Do you travel?

I’m based on the Black Isle near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland and so do most of my portrait photography in this area. If you are based further afield, I will be happy for you to travel to me or, alternatively, I would be happy to come to you for an additional fee.

What photography packages do you offer?

My photography packages are listed here. I’m flexible and am happy to discuss your requirements with you before providing a customised quote.

What will we discuss during the pre-shoot consultation?

We’ll arrange a phone call for a 10-15 minute chat in advance of your photoshoot. This will help me to find out more about your family and what you want from your photo shoot and the images. We can decide where the photographs should be taken, what to wear etc. After this you will no doubt be feeling excited about your photo shoot and will know what to expect on the day!

What will your approach be on the day?

I will take lots of photographs of everyone individually, in different combinations and in lots of different ways. Often the best images are captured in the second half of the photo shoot when everyone is feeling more relaxed around the camera and having fun.

Will the photo shoot take place indoors or outdoors?

I love working with natural light so prefer to be outdoors if possible. However, I am also happy to photograph indoors, especially if the weather is wet or you have a young baby. I will happily come to your home and start with some indoor images, then we can perhaps see if we can move to an outdoor location for a different look.

Where will the photo shoot take place?

Your family is unique and I want to reflect this in my photography. I don’t use a studio as I much prefer to work in a location that has a special meaning to your family; perhaps the beach, the local park, your garden or a field or woodland that you often visit. The options are endless!

What happens if the weather is bad?

The weather may force us to change the location on the day, e.g. a beach shoot may change to a more inland location on a windy day. Heavy rain, high winds or thick fog will put a stop to an outdoor shoot. I will keep an eye on the weather forecast before the photo shoot and will be in touch if we need to consider different options, e.g. a change of time or day. Alternatively, we can do the whole shoot indoors from your home.

Do you do newborn posing photography?

Newborn posing photography (with babies asleep in various positions, often with props) is a very specialised genre. Whilst I appreciate this style of photography, it is not the way I like to capture newborns. I much prefer to adopt a natural approach with babies.

What if my children misbehave?

Don’t worry about it! The best thing is to let me deal with the kids as much as possible. I know this is hard but it will be more difficult for me to capture great images if the parents are angry and the kids are upset.

I don’t like having my photograph taken. Can you just photograph the children?

This isn’t a problem! However, I love to get the parents involved if at all possible. Perhaps you feel a little anxious in front of the camera or are worried that the photographs will draw attention to your insecurities. Think carefully though. Your kids won’t care about the way you look but they, and you, will treasure your family photographs in years to come.

Can we pay in instalments?

If you are spending £500 or more, then we can agree a payment plan whereby you pay in instalments, perhaps over two or three months.
