There’s a lot to think about when planning your wedding! Grab a cup of tea and sit back and relax while I do my best to answer your questions about your photography in my wedding FAQs!
How long will my photographer be at my wedding?
This depends on which photography package you choose and your requirements for the day. If you request a full day’s coverage, I’ll arrive in the morning to capture the preparations and will finish after the first few dances of your evening reception. I’m happy to offer you a discounted rate if you don’t need coverage of getting ready in the morning or the dancing in the evening.
What photos will my wedding photographer capture?
My passion is to tell a story with candid images capturing all the emotions; and fairly informal couple and group shots with minimal posing. I’m driven by the excitement of capturing those special moments on a wedding day. Natural, raw emotions. Tears and laughter. I love telling a story with photographs.
“Wanted to say what gorgeous photos you took. Everyone is delighted with the natural style. Thank you so much!”FAY AND ERIC DUFF
Each wedding will typically include a mixture of colour and monochrome images. I love working with colour but find that black and white can look ‘timeless’ in wedding photography. I’ll also take the time to capture all your wee details!
Can I provide my wedding photographer with a list of group photos?
Yes, absolutely! I’ll ask you to provide me with a list before the wedding. I suggest allocating around 20 to 30 minutes after the ceremony for formal photographs, typically involving the bridal party and closest family members. I’m also happy to organise a group photo of all your day guests (a formal one and a fun one!).
After I’ve captured your couple shots, you can relax and get on with the rest of the wedding day without interruptions! I love working outdoors in natural light (weather permitting!) but I’m also happy to capture your couple shots indoors and showcase your venue. If it rains and you’re happy to brave the elements, I have a large white umbrella which you are welcome to borrow!
Will my wedding photographer capture our first dance?
I’ll stay until the first few dances if you select of my photography packages. I’ll finish for the night when I know I’ve captured everything I need for you. If you select a bespoke package, I’ll be happy to discuss with you the amount of photography coverage that you need.
Will my wedding photographer travel across Scotland?
I’m based in the Inverness area and will be happy to travel throughout the Scottish Highlands (including Skye), Moray and Aberdeenshire and as far south as the Central Belt for no extra charge. I’ve photographed weddings in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Kintyre in the past and would gladly do so again. I’m happy to travel further afield but may need to charge a little extra, e.g. to cover ferry fares to the islands.
Can I find a photographer to cover my winter wedding?
Look no further! I’ve photographed plenty of winter weddings. I’ll probably photograph your group shots indoors, in addition to some of your couple shots. Due to the shorter daylight hours in winter, you may need to give some extra thought to the timing of the ceremony if you’re planning on having some outdoor photographs taken afterwards.
Where can I find a photographer to cover our same sex wedding?
Again, look no further! I would be delighted to capture your special day for you both. I’ll gladly take the time to discuss your vision for your wedding or civil partnership ceremony and exactly what you would like from the photographs.
Will my wedding photographer work alone?
I normally work alone regardless of the size of wedding. I’m comfortable working alone but can call on an experienced second shooter for an additional fee, if required.
Will my wedding photographer supply albums?
Call me old-fashioned but I still love to print photographs, even in the digital age! I supply luxury matted albums which are created by Jorgensen in the UK and are beautifully finished using the highest quality materials. The images are presented in mounts (similar to framed photographs) and offer a timeless and robust alternative to printed books. The albums have oatmeal linen covers and gold foil embossing.
Will my wedding photographer supply framed prints?
I can’t think of a better way to remember your wedding on a daily basis than to have some beautiful wall art on display in your home. I supply professionally framed prints, created in the UK using high quality lustre photographic paper and mouldings in a selection of finishes.
Can I get some information on wedding photography packages?
With my silver, gold and platinum packages, I offer the following as standard:
- Comprehensive pre-wedding consultation to discuss the details of the day.
- All day coverage from getting ready to the first few dances.
- Post production digital editing with each file carefully selected and edited.
- High resolution images on a USB drive.
- Secure online password-protected web page and gallery to share with family and friends and link to social media, with a facility for purchasing prints.
- Slideshow set to music, bringing to life the best photographs from the wedding day.
- Commitment to providing you with beautiful imagery and products and the very highest standard of client service.
Please don’t feel too restricted by the packages! I’m flexible and appreciate that you might have different requirements, which is absolutely fine! I’ll be happy to discuss a bespoke package with you if needed.
What should I expect from my photographer after my wedding?
I will individually edit and enhance all of the images to a high standard. I am a perfectionist! Your photographs will be presented in a secure online password-protected gallery and delivered to your door on a USB drive. Your images will be ready within eight weeks of the wedding. Often it will be much quicker but it will depend on my workload!
I’ll be happy to provide a small number of images shortly after the wedding for you to use on thank you cards or share on social media etc., if requested. I’ll also create a slideshow of images set to music once the processing of the photographs is complete.
How do I book my wedding photography?
If you have decided to go ahead and book your wedding photography… brilliant! To confirm your booking, I’ll just need you to complete a booking form and pay a 25% deposit. The remaining balance will be due two months before your wedding.
Don’t put it off! My calendar fills up quickly, sometimes years in advance, and bookings are taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Get in touch and let’s start planning your wedding photography. I’m really looking forward to working with you!
