I recently had the pleasure of photographing Shara and Alan’s winter wedding in Edinburgh and West Linton. This wedding was particularly special for me as Shara is one of my best friends from my school days. Shara, her mum and her bridesmaids had their hair and make up done on the top floor of the Waldorf Astoria overlooking Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street with the sound of the Christmas brass band outside! The atmosphere was lovely.
I took a few photos of Shara and her dad before heading south to the quaint little village of West Linton in the Scottish Borders. The guests took their seats in St Andrew’s Church then the bridal party arrived and the ceremony got underway. I felt as emotional as everyone else in the church when the bride walked down the aisle and had to swallow a lump in my throat! The Rev. Scott Burton of St Matthew’s Church in Perth conducted a lovely ceremony then the couple toasted their marriage with a quaich containing a wee dram of whisky.
We returned to Edinburgh at sunset and I captured the couple shots and group photos, taking advantage of the grand central staircase in the Waldorf Astoria. Before long, everyone took their seats for dinner in the beautifully appointed Board Room. Later on, more guests arrived for the evening reception then Shara and Alan cut their wedding cake and took to the dance floor.
Congratulations to you both!
